History

Victory Baptist Church is an independent, fundamental Baptist church founded in 1991. The church originally met in a rented daycare until December of 1994. The Lord allowed this young congregation to purchase property and erect a beautiful structure on the southeast corner of town.

We have a unique history.... Never did our pastor dream that he would willingly return to the Mojave Desert while he was stationed at Edwards AFB from 1983-1985. While a ministerial student at Bob Jones University, in Greenville, South Carolina, the Lord impressed upon him the need of this area for fundamental ministries. That dream is now a reality. During his tenure at Edwards AFB, a dear couple (Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hall) living in California City were praying for an independent, fundamental Baptist church to be planted in California City. The Lord heard and answered that prayer!

We have a unique congregation.... Our members currently reside in California City, Edwards AFB, and Rosamond. We have had the opportunity to minister to those residing in Boron, Mojave, North Edwards and George AFB before this base was deactivated. With the many military members and their families that have found a home at Victory...we find ourselves meeting many new people and saying "Hope to See You Soon" to many dear friends. Single military have an open invitation for Sunday dinner in the home of our pastor and his family. We have a love for those who serve our great Nation and desire to provide them a home away from home. One security policeman was quoted as stating, "That is the place for great food."

Missions has been from the very first offering a vitally important emphasis of Victory. We know have the joy of supporting fundamental ministries from Poland to Ghana South Korea with several home mission fields included as well.
